Taneytown Woman Wins Bonus Match 5 Prize with Special Numbers

Takes Home $50,000 Top-Tier Prize

After several months of using family member’s birthdays to play her Bonus Match 5 numbers, a 53-year-old Taneytown woman’s dream finally became a reality. She won a $50,000 top-tier Bonus Match 5 prize.

“I started getting Lottery tickets for my mom after my dad passed away,” she said. “Then I just started getting them for myself.  I figured if I played numbers that were special to me, maybe I’d win something.  I never thought that it would be this big.”

The lucky winner told Lottery officials that she believes her late dad had something to do with her win. “It’s like he’s rewarding us for taking care of mom.”

The winner, who use to work as a factory worker but is now disabled, certainly is no stranger to winning. She won a $10,000 prize playing a Hugs & Kisses scratch-off a few years ago. The winner, along with her husband, said they’d put most of their winnings toward paying off their bills. They also plan on having a little fun with the money. The winning ticket was purchased at the Liquor Barn on East Baltimore Street in Taneytown.

The Lottery has once again teamed up with the Baltimore Orioles for an exciting second-chance contest.  Lottery players who mail in two non-winning Reese’s™ scratch-off tickets will have the chance to become a Fan of the Game.

Beginning June 4th, a Fan of the Game will be randomly selected for every remaining 2010 Orioles home game and will be announced during the top of the first inning on Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), the official television network of the Orioles.  If an Orioles player hits a home run that hits the Maryland Lottery Hit It Here sign in centerfield, the Fan of the Game selected for that game will win $100,000.  If a home run is not hit, or if an Orioles home run that is hit does not hit the Hit It Here sign, the Fan of the Game for that game will win $100 worth of Reese’s™ scratch-off tickets and entry into the Grand-Prize drawing.  At the end of the promotion, a Grand-Prize winner will be selected to win a trip for two to Orioles Spring Training in Sarasota, FL. Taneytown Man Plays It Cool After Winning Big

Wins $50,000 Cashino Top Prize

CashinoAn 81-year-old Taneytown man came to Lottery Headquarters today to claim a $50,000 top prize from the Cashino scratch-off. A frequent Lottery player, the former Montgomery County high school business education teacher said this was the fourth time he won over $1,500 dollars from a scratch-off ticket.

“I pretty much kept an even keel,” said the great grandfather-of-nine. Besides paying off his van debts, the retiree has no major plans for his winnings.

The Poolesville native said he would continue to play scratch-offs and Mega Millions until he lands “the big one.” “Odds are you folks will see me back here in a couple months,” he told Lottery officials with a giant grin on his face.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Liquor Barn, located at 520 East Baltimore Street in Taneytown.

It’s a Sweet Win for Taneytown Woman

First Hershey’s™ Kisses & Cash™ $10,000 Top Prize Awarded

Kisses & CashThe timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Only days away from Valentine’s Day, Rhonda Sondericker won $10,000 on the new Hershey’s Kisses & Cash scratch-off. Rhonda arrived at Lottery Headquarters with her husband, who figures prominently in her plans for the prize money. “I’m going to take my husband and parents out to dinner,” said Rhonda. “I had intended to do that before I won, but now it’s going to be extra special.” Rhonda added that her father has been ill, so this will be a great treat for him as well.

The 49-year-old Taneytown resident stopped on Saturday to make some purchases at the store and bought $20 worth of scratch-offs. When she returned home she sat down to read the paper and then it occurred to her she hadn’t played her tickets. It was the second of her scratch-offs that revealed the big win. “I started hollering,” said Rhonda.

She hollered for her husband, who said it looked like a winner. Still, wanting to be positive they took the ticket back to the store and had it verified. “I am so tickled with this,” said Rhonda. “I never thought I’d win. This is a good Valentine’s present!”

In addition to the dinner plans, Rhonda wants to save some of her winnings and buy some clothes. The winning ticket was purchased at Liquor Barn, located at 520 E. Baltimore St. in Taneytown.

The Hershey’s Kisses & Cash ticket also features a second-chance contest with the chance to win a deluxe trip to Hershey, PA or Hershey’s chocolate for a year.
