Owings Mills Store Sells $1 Million Scratch-off

Same store sold $100,000 winner three weeks ago

Million Money MatchThere must be something in the air at the Safeway store in Owings Mills. For the second time in three weeks, a big winning ticket was sold at that location. The most recent ticket, which was claimed today, had a $1 million top prize on the Million Money Match scratch-off. Just three weeks ago, someone claimed a $100,000 Double Cash top prize from the exact same store.

Today’s $1 million ticket was claimed by a 49-year-old Owings Mills man. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, brought his brother and niece with him to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. The new millionaire is understandably still in shock over the amount of the win. “At first I thought I had won $10,000, but then I looked at it again and saw that it was worth $1 million,” the lucky man told Lottery officials.

The only purchase he plans to make for now with his newfound money is a house. The lucky $1 million Money Million Match ticket, along with the $100,000 Double Cash ticket from three weeks ago, was purchased at the Safeway #1657, located at 10335 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills.

Shopping Trip Instantly Turns into a Bag of Cash

Zhi Quang Yu - Double Cash

Zhi Qiang claims his $100,000 Top Prize.

Baltimore County man wins Double Cash $100,000 Top Prize

There is nothing like going to the grocery store and leaving with a winning $100,000 scratch-off ticket. That’s exactly what happened to Zhi Qiang Yu while shopping for groceries with a long-time friend. Zhi Qiang Yu scratched his Double Cash ticket before leaving the store and knew immediately that he won the $100,000 top prize!

His first reaction was disbelief. “I was in shock,” the winner said. Yu’s friend and his daughter, who were by his side when he won, came with him to celebrate his good fortune at Lottery headquarters. Both of them were equally shocked when they learned about Zhi Qiang Yu’s news.

This single man, who doesn’t have any children, is eager to use his winnings to go on a vacation to China. The lucky ticket was purchased at the Safeway #1657, located at 10335 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills.

Dream Leads to Big Win for Baltimore County Couple [VIDEO]

Lucky 7s Game Book Produces a Millionaire

It’s something from a movie – someone has a dream, plays the Lottery and wins big.  An Owings Mills couple recently visited Lottery headquarters with a Lucky 7s Game Book scratch-off ticket worth $1 million.  The couple, a nurse and school teacher, still can’t believe their good fortune.

“I was getting carry-out for dinner and the store next door sold Lottery tickets.  I was about to get a different ticket when I remembered something that my daughter had mentioned to me,” said the wife.  “She said that she had a dream about me winning with the Game Book ticket.”

The woman told Lottery officials that she was skeptical about the Game Book since she usually didn’t buy scratch-offs, but was willing to give it a try. Later when she discovered that her daughter’s dream had become a reality, she was in complete shock. The family spent the rest of the evening trying to come to terms with the win and what it meant for the family.

As a result of the win, the family’s hefty college expenses are covered.  Another result of the win? Their daughter now believes that she’s a physic.  Good fortune found the couple at Sam’s Wine & Spirit at 11130 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills.

The Lucky 7s Game Book consists of six $5 tickets for only $20.  The scratch-off, which launched in late August, has four remaining top prizes as well as numerous other prizes, including $50,000, remaining.

Carpet Cleaner Makes a Clean Sweep with MONOPOLY ™ Scratch-off Win

Anderson Felix - Monopoly

Owings Mills resident Anderson Felix can’t stop
smiling about his $50,000 Monopoly win!

Wins $50,000 Top Prize; Two Top-prizes remain

Anderson Felix is a regular scratch-off player. He and his co-worker purchase tickets breaks from cleaning carpets at Baltimore-area hotels. But the Owings Mills carpet cleaner really cleaned-up during a recent work break, scratching off one of the three remaining MONOPOLY™ scratch-off $50,000 top prizes.

Felix began scratching the ticket in the parking lot outside the store. As he slid into the driver’s seat of his work van he revealed a train emblem in the game play area of his ticket.  He knew he had won, but it took some time for him to realize that he had won a $50,000 top prize. When he discovered the size of his windfall, he was in disbelief.

Felix, who emigrated from Brazil 30 years ago, says he plans to use the prize winnings to benefit his family. “I have two children and I want to plan for their future,” said Felix. He also plans to use a portion of the prize to celebrate. Felix plans to feed his ‘futbol’ fever, by traveling to Rio for the 2014 World Cup. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said. The winning ticket was purchased at Mall Spirits on Reisterstown Road in Baltimore.

Cute is the “Ticket” to $50,000 win

Lisa Giacobbe - Super Gems

Lisa Giacobbe is super excited about her Super Gems scratch-off win.

Jarrettsville woman claims top prize on $50,000 Super Gems scratch-off

Lisa Giacobbe from Jarrettsville has some very exacting criteria for choosing her Maryland Lottery scratch-offs — “I like cute tickets,” said the mother-of-one. “That’s basically how I pick my tickets. I saw Super Gems and thought ‘how cute.’”

It was back in July when Lisa was doing some grocery shopping that the scratch-off caught her eye. “I liked the diamonds,” said Lisa. She bought just one Super Gems ticket, which she scratched later at home. “Originally, I didn’t think that it was a winner. It seemed too easy,” she said.

Skeptical, yet curious, Lisa went to a nearby Royal Farms store to have the clerk check her ticket. When the scanner read repeatedly “Go to Lottery Headquarters” Lisa knew she was a winner. Upon receiving the news, her husband questioned, “Are you sure?” “I’m 100% certain,” replied Lisa.

The owner of Power Cleaning, a commercial cleaning company, intends to put her winnings in the bank and will continue her typical Lottery play. Her big win has also inspired her friends and family to join in the Lottery fun. “Everyone I know is playing now,” said Lisa. “They all think they’re going to win.”  The winning ticket was sold at Safeway, located at 10335 Reisterstown Rd. in Owings Mills.

Owings Mills Man Claims First Second-Chance Cruise Vacation

Wins Nine-Day Luxury Vacation through Cruise for Cash Promotion

Brian Stolz - Cruise for CashWhen Brian Stolz received a message on his Facebook page last Friday congratulating him on winning a cruise, he wasn’t quite sure what to think.  He then checked his voicemail, and listened to a message from a Maryland Lottery official confirming that he was selected as the first second-chance Cruise for Cash cruise vacation winner.

The 45-year-old, who is a pre-sales engineer for an office product company, is still deciding who he is going to take on the cruise.  One big possibility is his sister, who took him on a cruise she won at work years ago.  Brian’s ticket was randomly selected from more than 40,000 entries.

Partnering with Royal Caribbean International, the Maryland Lottery launched Cruise for Cash on January 10, 2011. The $5 scratch-off features seven $50,000 instant top prizes, as well as 31 instant cruise vacations and a second-chance contest.  Players may enter the contest by mailing in a non-winning Cruise for Cash scratch-off or by entering online at mdlottery.com/cruise.  The second-chance prize includes a nine-night cruise vacation for two, on any one of Royal Carribean’s cruise ships departing from the Port of Baltimore.  The winner will also receive a $1,000 onboard credit. One drawing will take place each month through July.

The veteran cruiser, who is the manager of a nursing home, stopped by #1 Convenience Store at 10201 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills to play her favorite daily numbers and decided to add a rare scratch-off.  “I almost never play scratch-offs, so I asked the cashier for a ticket – his choice.  He just happened to pick the Cruise ticket for me.”
