Prince George’s County Woman Multiplies Win 10x

Takes home $50,000 Money Multiplier scratch-off win

Money MultiplierA Riverdale couple came into Lottery headquarters on Wednesday to claim a $50,000 Money Multiplier second-tier prize. It was difficult to tell if they were more excited about their prize or the fact that the Redskins were in the playoffs. For them it has certainly been a good start to the New Year.

In honor of 2013, the woman bought three tickets hoping to win a little money. When she got home and checked her ticket, the lucky winner saw that she had won $5,000 on one of the tickets. Concerned that she misread her ticket, she showed her husband. “I told her that she needed to keep scratching the ticket,” her husband said laughing. “She stopped after she saw the $5,000, but I knew that it was possible that we could’ve won more.”

Skeptical that there would be more money left, the woman continued to scratch, only stopping when she saw that her prize had been multiplied by 10 thanks to the “money multiplier” on the ticket.

The couple said that while they would love to go to the Redskins’ playoff game, they probably wouldn’t be able to find tickets. In the meantime, they’ll save their money and let the good feeling sink in. The couple purchased their ticket at Bills Liquors at 1688 Annapolis Road in Odenton.

Anne Arundel Postal Worker Receives Another Special Delivery

$575,000 Multi-Match prize is second big win in just five months

The Maryland Lottery’s latest Multi-Match winner is no stranger to Lottery Headquarters. In fact, just this past July, the 60-year-old won $25,000 playing Pick 4. “I always played Pick 4 and Mega Millions and only began playing Multi-Match this past month,” said the lucky man. His new playing routine paid off quickly to the sum of $575,000 as a result of matching all six numbers on one line in the December 1 drawing.

The happy player discovered his good fortune when he checked his numbers on mdlottery.com and in the newspaper. “I checked my ticket six times,” he told Lottery officials. “My wife was asleep at the time, so I didn’t have anyone to tell.”

Still a bit skeptical, he returned the next morning to the liquor store where he had purchased the ticket and was told to take it to the Lottery. “This must be it,” he thought to himself. He called his wife to share the great news. Unable to contact her, he then called his daughter. “I was more excited than he was,” said his daughter, who had accompanied him to Lottery Headquarter. Since the news of his win almost a week ago, he has kept the $575,000 winning Multi-Match ticket in a secure box with his important papers.

The winner plans to pay bills and retire with his prize money. The winning ticket was purchased at the Odenton Liquors, located at 1115 Annapolis Rd. in Odenton.

Touchdown worth $200,000 for Odenton Football Player

19-Year-Old Claims Powerball Second-Tier Prize

A calm and collected Odenton man strolled into Lottery Headquarters this afternoon to claim a whopping second-tier $200,000 Powerball win.  The man, who arrived with his family, his Bible and a giant smile, soon allowed Lottery officials to see past his cool facade.  “I’m still in shock,” exclaimed the man, who chose to remain anonymous, as he sat down.

The 19-year-old, who plays the Lottery “once or twice in a blue moon,” explained that he had a few dollars left over after purchasing a bag of chips at a local convenience store and decided to buy a Powerball ticket.  He purchased a $1 ticket and used the Quick Pick option – then didn’t think about it for the rest of the day.  “I had an errand to run the next day and scanned my ticket at the store,” he said.  “When the screen read ‘see Lottery Commission,’ I thought the scanner was broken!”  The lucky winner went on to explain the feeling of excitement and disbelief that followed after the retailer told him that he had won a large sum of money.

The young man, a high school football standout who is actively being recruited by several East Coast universities, said that he will use the money to buy a new car, but “nothing too flashy.”   He also joked, “I’ll probably buy a pack of gum, too. Actually, I’ll buy a family pack so I can give some to my parents.” The whole family then burst into laughter.  He then, very seriously, added that he is very grateful for his win and feels very lucky to have won this large sum of money.

The winning ticket was purchased at Toms Liquors located at 1592 Annapolis Road in Odenton.

Odenton Woman Chalks Up Her Biggest Win to Date

Claims $50,000 Crossword Multiplier Scratch-off Prize

Shannon Haught - Crossword MultiplierShannon Haught is a big fan of Lottery play. “I play a lot and I win a lot,” said the divorced mother-of-three. In fact, when the 46-year-old called her oldest son in tears to share the news of her $50,000 scratch-off win, his response was, “It doesn’t surprise me.”

The paralegal stopped on her way home from work yesterday to purchase two Crossword Multiplier scratch-offs. She was home alone when she scratched the winning ticket. “I started screaming and crying,” said Shannon. “I was so excited when I called my daughter that she couldn’t understand me. I finally said very slowly, ‘I W-O-N $50,000.”

Her windfall isn’t Shannon’s only reason for celebration. The 46-year-old will be welcoming her first grandchild any day now. Shannon moved back to Maryland just two weeks ago from Vermont to be close to her children and the family’s soon-to-be new addition. Prior to living in New England, she also resided in Iraq where she served as a legal contractor.

The happy winner will continue her Lottery play and “hopes to be back in the Winners’ Lounge soon.” Shannon will use her prize money to pay bills and share with her children. Shannon purchased her winning scratch-off at Jessup Shell, located at 2753 Annapolis Rd. in Hanover.

Three’s the Charm for Odenton Man

Money-ManiaThe 57-year-old Odenton man is a self-described “routine type of guy.” Part of his routine is stopping Monday through Friday on his way home from work and buying a couple $10 scratch-off tickets.  Last Thursday, he didn’t diverge from his usual custom, but he did alter his ticket choice when there were no $10 instant tickets available.

“I told the clerk to give me a couple $5 scratch-offs instead,” said the father-of-three. When he saw that there were only three tickets left on the roll, he decided to just get them all. The “routine guy’s” spontaneity soon paid off when he discovered his $50,000 windfall on that third and last ticket.

“I scratched it at a traffic light,” said the winner. “I saw it and thought ‘wait a minute.’”

When he got to the next traffic light, he looked at it again and then about ten more times in disbelief. “I didn’t believe it until I showed it to my wife. She was amazed.”

With his 15-year-old car on its last leg, the store owner intends to use his winnings to purchase a new vehicle. He also has plans to invest in his IRA and perhaps do a few things around the house.

Fully intending to continue his Lottery play, the winner remarked, “You never know what will happen. This was a very pleasant surprise.” The winning ticket was purchased at his “routine” stop, Crofton Exxon, located at 1276 Route 3 South in Crofton.

Routine Lunch Stop Yields Man $100,000 Cash

Wins $100,000 on Jumbo Cash Doubler Scratch-off

An Anne Arundel County bus driver made one extra stop on his route today:  Maryland Lottery headquarters.  The lucky man and his wife came in just before their three-day weekend to claim a $100,000 top prize from the Jumbo Cash Doubler scratch-off ticket.

The man, an avid scratch-off player, had a few extra minutes during his work day this past week and decided to pick up some food and Lottery tickets.  He made his way back to his bus, scratched his ticket and casually looked at the prize beneath the two matching numbers he found.  What he saw made him jump out of his seat.  “I ran back into the store and asked the clerk to look at it for me,” he said. “She looked and her mouth dropped open.  That’s when I knew that my eyes hadn’t been deceiving me.”  He immediately called his wife, and they excitedly started adding up their bills and planning to pay them off.

The couple made the decision to split their winnings into three pots:  the first to cover all outstanding debts, the second for their savings account and the third for a well-deserved vacation.  They need to be conservative; after all, they have seven children and 20 grandchildren so money has always been tight.  The ticket winning ticket was purchased at Lucky’s Superette, located at 1101 Odenton Rd. in Odenton.

Typically a Pick 3/Pick 4 player, the 78-year-old decided on a whim that she would buy some scratch-offs.  She then sat in the store and scratched her Casino Royale ticket with a zen-like calmness. As she looked at what she had revealed she called to the store owner and said “I think I won some money.” His stunned response was merely, “Yeah, you sure did.”

The federal disability-retiree plans to use her winnings for medical expenses, and treat herself to a new bed.

The lucky couple saw the drawing live on television but didn’t have time to write down the numbers.  “I knew we had matched the Powerball, so I knew we had won something,” said one of the winners.  The couple was stunned to later discover that they had won such a large prize.  “I couldn’t believe how much we had won!”

Lucky Lady Purchases Lucky Times 20 Winning Ticket at Lucky Store

Lucky Times 20Luck was in the cards yesterday for an 84-year-old Odenton woman.  Not only did the lucky lady purchase a $50,000 winning Lucky Times 20 scratch-off ticket, but she bought the ticket at a Lucky Superette store.

The “luck” couldn’t have come at a better time.  Feeling the pain of a recent death in her family, the winner was relieved to have a little joy come into her life.  She purchased the ticket early yesterday, but didn’t get a chance to scratch it until last night.  “Once before, I scratched a ticket and thought I had won $5,000, but it was only $500,” said the winner, who plans to pay some bills with her prize.  “This time, I had my son double check it to be sure I wasn’t seeing things.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Lucky’s Superette, located at 1101 Odenton Rd. in Odenton.  This was the second $50,000 Lucky Times 20 prize claimed at Lottery Headquarters today.  Earlier, a Silver Spring man claimed his prize.  The Lucky Times 20 game still has two $1 million top prizes, four $50,000 prizes, and many more lower-tier prizes remaining.
