It was the day after Thanksgiving when a 65-year-old Baltimore woman’s luck quickly changed. She was trying to play her Keno numbers, but couldn’t play them in time. This upset the Lottery player, especially when a few of her numbers came out. So, she randomly chose a Nutcracker Cash Doubler scratch-off, which turned out to be a $50,000 winner.
“I was so angry when I didn’t get my Keno numbers in and then to see some of my numbers come out,” she said. “But, winning $50,000 on that scratch-off, surely made up for it.”
The mother-of-five and grandmother-of-two immediately went home and shared the news with her family. Her happy mood temporarily went south when her son jokingly put the scratch-off in the VCR and it almost got stuck. “I grabbed that ticket and put it in my dresser for safe keeping,” she said.
The lucky lady, who is employed as a caregiver, said she will use her money towards her mortgage and the upcoming holidays. The winning ticket was purchased at 714 Church Street in Brooklyn.

The Easton electrician was on his way home after work when he stopped by a nearby store to play a few scratch-offs. He chose his tickets, he scratched his tickets and when he realized what he was seeing he pocketed his tickets and immediately called his wife. “She didn’t believe me at first,” Richard told officials, “I didn’t want to get her too excited because she’s very, very pregnant.” With one daughter at home and another about to join the family, the instant win will be an instant help around the house.

Rockville Man Celebrates Holiday Cheer in May
The holidays came early this year for Samuel Fabian of Rockville. The 37-year-old won $50,000 on the Maryland Lottery scratch-off Nutcracker Cash Doubler. Samuel, who plays scratch-offs almost every weekend, purchased the ticket on Sunday at Aspen Hill Liquor, Beer & Wine on 13745 Connecticut Ave. in Silver Spring.
Samuel said he kept his cool after scratching the ticket in the store and then headed home to share the news with his wife. With the winnings, Samuel plans to take his two children on a vacation to Disney World.
