Mechanicsville Man Wins $250,000 Mega Millions Second-Tier Prize

Regularly Played Numbers Yield Big Win

“I’ve been playing these same numbers for about a year now,” said a very enthused 39-year-old Mechanicsville player. It’s a good thing he was consistent, because his numbers yielded him a $250,000 second-tier Mega Millions win from the drawing on Tuesday, June 19th.

The winner, who cuts grass part time, had just finished a job Tuesday morning when he played his Mega Millions numbers. He stopped at a local gas station, but realizing he had no cash, he attempted to get some out of an ATM. “It wouldn’t take either one of my credit cards,” he said. Frustrated, the Baltimore County employee went to a nearby bank to retrieve some cash.  He then decided to go to the store that was next to the bank to get his Lottery tickets. “I played my normal $10 that I play for each drawing,” he said with a grin. “I play $5 on each ticket.”

The lucky player then headed to work and did not check his tickets until the next day.  When he saw his numbers matched, he excitedly told his wife. “I’ll just say, I did not get much sleep last night,” said the player. The father-of-two plans to use his winnings to pay off two new cars that he just purchased for himself and his wife. He plans to keep the rest as a nest egg for his family. The winning ticket was purchased at A&B Liquor located at 28260 Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville.

Mechanicsville Man Wins $1.9 Million Multi-Match Prize

Winner chooses cash option

A Mechanicsville man will be able to live very comfortable thanks to a Quick Pick Multi-Match ticket. The 41-year-old matched all six numbers to win the $1.9 million jackpot on March 29th. The winner chose the cash option of $1.35 million.

The lucky winner, who plays the Lottery occasionally, went back to the store where he purchased the ticket and checked the ticket scanner to see if he had a winner. He had several tickets to check, but the fourth and final ticket, revealed the message, “Claim at Lottery Headquarters.”

Upon viewing the message, the excited winner’s hands started to shake and he decided to head home to look up the winning numbers on his computer. He tried repeatedly to call his wife, who didn’t answer. Finally, she called him. “I was in shock,” his wife said. The couple went to the bank and purchased a safety deposit box to store the winning ticket.

The happy couple will pay bills, pay off their home and save for their children’s college fund and a short Hawaiian vacation. The winning ticket was purchased at Boatman’s Mini Mart located at 41106 Oakville Rd. in Mechanicsville.

Top Prize Scratch Win for St. Mary’s County Man

Wins $100,000 Playing Big Money Bingo

Everyone needs a break once in a while during their work day, a chance to step away from the grind to relax for a moment. For an equipment operator in Hollywood, one of those momentary respites this past Wednesday proved to be quite memorable. He spent his few minutes of down time scratching a Big Money Bingo ticket he’d purchased on the way in to the shop that morning. When he returned to the job just a few minutes later he was $100,000 richer.

“I checked that thing probably ten times to make sure I was reading it correctly,” the winner told Lottery officials. “When I walked back in to work I had tears in my eyes. The other guys thought something had happened outside.” Something did happen, of course, something that none of them will ever forget. “There was a lot of yelling, hugs and high-fives going on. My boss was upset because we were shorthanded and he couldn’t let me leave for the Lottery office.”

The St. Mary’s County man and his wife have definite plans for their winnings. After taking care of some debts and setting some aside for a vehicle that needs attention, there will be plenty left over for their four kids. The winning ticket was purchased at the Burchmart convenience store, located at 28270 Three Notch Rd. in Mechanicsville.

Sweet Win for Sweethearts on Valentine’s Day

Mechanicsville Resident Wins Cruise Vacation

Bryan Caperones - Cruise For CashOn Valentine’s Day, Bryan Caperones won $20 on a scratch-off and headed into his favorite store to collect his winnings. Little did Bryan know that his win would turn into a much sweeter deal when he decided to spend his $20 on four Cruise for Cash tickets.  He planned on giving the tickets to his wife to scratch, but he couldn’t wait that long and decided to scratch them himself.  The first ticket he scratched was a $25 winner, but it was the third ticket that revealed a Royal Caribbean® cruise vacation.

Later that evening, he surprised his wife when he put the winning ticket in the bag with her Valentine’s Day present.  Anxious to share their good fortune, Bryan told her where to find the winning ticket. “Reach to the bottom of the bag and pull it out,” he instructed.  “She was pretty excited.”  The happy couple will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on June 3rd.  They already have plans to go to Jamaica, but look forward to taking their Royal Caribbean® cruise in November.  The winning ticket was purchased at Fred’s Liquors, located at 30075 Three Notch Rd. in Charlotte Hall.
