Jessup Woman Quenches Her Thirst with a Big Win

$50,000 Bingo Times 10 Top-Prize Winner

Trista Hancock - Bingo Times 10Trista Hancock stopped by the gas station because she wanted to get something to drink and cash in a $5 scratch-off winner.  She grew fond of the Lottery’s bingo-themed scratch-offs two months ago when she won $140.  So, it wasn’t unusual for her to get the Bingo Times 10 ticket  with the money that she won.

“I told my husband a couple weeks ago that I’m going to hit it big,” said the 25-year-old.  She was at home with her mother and two daughters when her prediction came true. “I couldn’t believe it. I checked my ticket three times, and then I told my mother. We were in the house screaming until the baby started crying from all the noise,” Trista told Lottery officials.

Her mother told her to calm down and go back to the store to check the ticket.  They confirmed her $50,000 win. “I screamed in the gas station, going out of the gas station, and when I got back home my mother and I started to scream again.”  When she called her husband at work with the news, he was rendered speechless.

Trista quickly let everyone know about her good fortune via her Facebook page and many happy phone calls.  Intending to use the prize money to pay bills, Trista said, “By the time we pay them off there will be no money to give away.” The winning scratch-off was purchased at Parkway Chevron, 2756 Annapolis Rd. in Hanover.

Career-High Win for Washington, DC Man

Wins $50,000 Prize on Bonus Match 5

Lester Smith Jr. - Bonus Match 5Lester Smith Jr. plays Bonus Match 5 every day. He’s even won before. But for the first time Tuesday evening, Lester finally hit all five numbers to win the game’s top prize of $50,000. His good fortune came as no surprise to the loyal Lottery player. Just a day earlier, he told his boss that he knew he was going to win a big prize. The next day his boss received the call, “I got it.”

The 71-year-old’s reaction to discovering he was $50,000 richer was nonchalance. “I was calmer than the retailer who checked the ticket. He couldn’t believe a big winner was sold in his store.” The washer and dryer installer has no extravagant plans for his winnings. The self-proclaimed “homebody” will give some to his two children, and continue to play the Lottery. “You have to play to win,” said Lester.

The winning ticket was sold at Royal Farms located at 8686 Washington Blvd in Jessup.

Jessup Woman Claims $250,000 Mega Millions Prize

Quick Pick Selects Winning Numbers

Mega MillionsA 40-year-old Jessup woman started her week on a high note with a second-tier Mega Millions win. “I was on pins and needles all weekend, until I could come in to claim my prize,” said the mother-of-two.

The fortunate woman went to her regular Lottery place where she purchased two $5 Mega Millions tickets and one $10 Multi-Match ticket.  The following morning she checked one of her Mega Millions tickets online forgetting that she purchased three tickets total.  That ticket didn’t produce a win. It wasn’t until the following morning that she remembered she had two other tickets that she hadn’t checked.

Half asleep, she pulled the tickets out of the bottom of her purse.  First, she checked the Multi-Match ticket, with no luck. As she looked at her last Mega Millions ticket, she noticed that a lot of her numbers matched the winning numbers online.  “I was stunned, I said ‘no way.’”

She ran to tell her husband, who was outside shoveling snow, the great news.  “I have work to do, leave me alone,” her husband responded as he continued his work. With her winnings, the recycling facility manager plans to buy a 2010 Chevy Camaro for herself and a new pick-up truck for her husband.

The winning ticket was purchased at Latela’s Liquors, located at 2733-B Annapolis Rd in Anne Arundel County.
