Money Talks for Dorchester County Woman

Wins $50,000 on Money Talks Scratch-off

Money TalksThe hour-and-a-half drive to Baltimore was more than worth it for a Hurlock woman and her fiancé on Friday. The regular scratch-off player could hardly believe her eyes when she saw that she had won a $50,000 top prize on the new Money Talks scratch-off.

“I saw that I had a matching number and then rushed to scratch the space beneath it to see how much I had won,” she said. “As soon as I saw the $50,000, I texted my daughter to tell her what happened.”

As soon as her daughter saw the text, she came rushing over to see what exactly her mom was talking about. “I don’t know if she believed me at first, but after she saw the ticket, I know she was just as excited as I was,” said the woman.

The winner plans to pay off some bills and save the rest for a rainy day. The winning ticket was purchased at the Shop Stop on 300 Broad Street in Hurlock.

Tic Tac OH NO!

Melissa Wilson - Super Tic Tac Toe

Caroline County Couple’s $30,000 Winning Ticket Almost Ripped in Half

A Hurlock couple scratched their way to a nice-sized nest egg on the Super Tic Tac Toe scratch-off.  Fifty-two-year-old Melissa Wilson was with her husband Dallas when luck shined their way. Their lucky moment could have played out much differently.

“I was playing my Pick 4 numbers, when Dallas suggested I buy the scratch-off because it was the last one left from the roll,” said Melissa, a housekeeper. Without really knowing how to play the game, Dallas scratched off the ticket and handed it to the cashier to check. The “cash at lottery” message popped up, but then the unthinkable happened. The cashier began to tear the ticket down the middle. “I don’t think he realized it was a winner,” said Melissa. “I asked him to hand the ticket back before it was torn completely in half,” sighed Dallas.

After getting the almost-severed ticket back in their hands, the parents of four and grandparents of eleven went home and tried to relax. Unfortunately, thinking about their windfall and what could have been lost caused the couple to have a restless night. Early the next morning, they took the trip to Baltimore to claim their big prize.

The Wilsons plan to use the winnings towards a sunroom or a screened-in porch and will put the rest of their winnings into savings. The winning ticket was purchased at Shop Stop located at 300 Broad Street in Hurlock, Maryland.

Walmart Employee Celebrates Birthday with $50,000 Win

Hurlock purchase nets top prize on Instant Riches scratch-off

A Dorchester Walmart employee celebrated her birthday with an early surprise that would send most people reeling. When the young woman stopped into a convenience store, she had no idea that she would uncover a $50,000 prize on her Instant Riches scratch-off.

She purchased a couple of five dollar scratch-offs from the store, including one Instant Riches ticket before heading to her parked car to scratch-the tickets. She had only just begun scratching her Instant Riches scratch-off when she had uncovered a spot that appeared to show a $10,000 prize. After a few moments of excitement, she continued to scratch the ticket revealing four more $10,000 prizes for a total of $50,000. “At that moment, I was filled with anxiety and heart fluttering,” said the winner.

The winner said she plans to keep news of the win quiet for now, but may reveal the good news to family later this month. She plans to put her prize to good use, paying off her car and making charitable donations to her two favorite charities: the Children’s Miracle Network and the St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Hurlock Goose Creek convenience store, located at 105 Delaware Avenue in Hurlock.

Lottery Hits a Home Run with “Hit It Here” Orioles Promotion [VIDEO]

The Lottery has once again teamed up with the Baltimore Orioles for an exciting second-chance contest.  Lottery players who mail in two non-winning Reese’s™ scratch-off tickets will have the chance to become a Fan of the Game.

Beginning June 4th, a Fan of the Game will be randomly selected for every remaining 2010 Orioles home game and will be announced during the top of the first inning on Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), the official television network of the Orioles.  If an Orioles player hits a home run that hits the Maryland Lottery Hit It Here sign in centerfield, the Fan of the Game selected for that game will win $100,000.  If a home run is not hit, or if an Orioles home run that is hit does not hit the Hit It Here sign, the Fan of the Game for that game will win $100 worth of Reese’s™ scratch-off tickets and entry into the Grand-Prize drawing.  At the end of the promotion, a Grand-Prize winner will be selected to win a trip for two to Orioles Spring Training in Sarasota, FL.
