Post Earthquake Ticket Shakes Things Up For Catonsville Man

Wins $1,000,000 Top Prize on Extreme Cash Blast

On a day full of fear and uncertainty due to the East Coast earthquake, happiness showered over a Catonsville man. After thinking a loud remodeling project was taking place at work, the annoyed federal employee was advised to evacuate due the state’s strongest earthquake in several decades.  The man decided to make good use of his idle time and scratched a few scratch-off tickets he had recently purchased.

“I thought to myself, it was a great time to scratch off some of my Lottery tickets,” the lucky winner said. After an unsettling experience at work, he was shocked to see that he was $1 million dollars richer.  He and his wife were ecstatic:  “He had been certain he’d win for the past 6 months!” said his wife.

Winning is not completely foreign to the avid player, who previously won $10,000 playing Mega Millions. He said he hopes that top prizes from both Mega Millions and Powerball are in his future. With his winnings, the happy winner plans to take a vacation with his wife, pay bills put the rest of it in the bank.

The winning ticket was purchased at 40 West Citgo, located on 8300 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City.

Catonsville Man is “Roll”ing in the Dough

Wins $100,000 on Lucky Roll Scratch-Off

Anthony Viscardi - Lucky RollAnthony Viscardi of Catonsville picked up more than a few groceries when he stopped at Giant on Tuesday. On his way out of the store, he stopped at the Maryland Lottery’s Instant Ticket Vending Machine and bought a Lottery scratch-off.  He then got in his car and scratched the ticket revealing a $10,000 win. Delighted with his newfound wealth, little did Anthony realize that there were nine more $10,000 prizes awaiting him. “I thought that was it,” said Anthony..

Upon returning home, he looked at his Lucky Roll scratch-off again and proceeded to scratch more of the ticket revealing nine more $10,000’s. “When the second $10,000 came up, I said ‘Oh my God,’ then there was another and another and another and…..” Expressing shock and disbelief, the 62-year-old added, “I had nine more heart failures. I thought it was a joke.”  In fact, the insurance representative was skeptical about the authenticity of his win right up until receiving the confirmation at Lottery Headquarters.

When asked by a Lottery representative whether he will continue to play Lottery games, Anthony responded, “Are you kidding? I went back to that machine the next day.” Anthony, who was accompanied to Lottery Headquarter by his wife of 34 years, said that they haven’t quite decided what they will do with their windfall, but may take a small trip to Atlantic City. The happy winner summed up his experience with a laugh, saying, “It was dumb luck. I didn’t save anybody’s life.”  The winning ticket was purchased at Giant #117, located at 6223 Baltimore National Pike in Baltimore.

Lucky Roll is part of the $10 Lucky Casino scratch-off that has 3 different looks:, Lucky Roll is green and purple with dice imagery, Lucky Spin includes blue and yellow roulette imagery and Lucky Cards is predominantly red and mimics the look of a deck of playing cards. All three Lucky Casino tickets can be found in the same pack of tickets and although they may look different, they are designed with the same fun number match play style.  There is still a $100,000 prize remaining on the Lucky Casino scratch-off.

Baltimore County Woman is Livin’ Lucky

Wins $250,000 Instant Top Prize on Livin’ Lucky Scratch-Off

Livin LuckyA fondness for shooting the breeze turned into a $250,000 windfall for a Baltimore City School retiree. The 78-year-old enjoys visiting the Soda Pop Shop on Ingleside Ave. to mingle and play Maryland Lottery scratch-offs.  “It’s a nice way to get out of the house,” said the lucky winner. “I like this location because they have a wide variety of scratch-offs.” Particularly a fan of Livin’ Lucky, the happy player knew immediately she had won the scratch-off’s top prize.

I sat down and began to scratch the ticket,” she said.  “I sat right there and looked at it. I never thought I would win that much.” Although familiar with her favorite ticket and sure of her newfound wealth, she nonetheless had the store’s clerk confirm the $250,000 win. Upon verification, both the clerk and the winner didn’t reveal the good news. “I want to keep this quiet,” said the winner. “Only one other person knows.”

Plans for the scratch-off buff’s prize money include making donations to her church, college Alma Mater and her family.  The winning ticket was sold at Soda Pop Shop #8, located at 1026 Ingleside Ave. in Baltimore.

Lottery Hits a Home Run with “Hit It Here” Orioles Promotion [VIDEO]

The Lottery has once again teamed up with the Baltimore Orioles for an exciting second-chance contest.  Lottery players who mail in two non-winning Reese’s™ scratch-off tickets will have the chance to become a Fan of the Game.

Beginning June 4th, a Fan of the Game will be randomly selected for every remaining 2010 Orioles home game and will be announced during the top of the first inning on Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), the official television network of the Orioles.  If an Orioles player hits a home run that hits the Maryland Lottery Hit It Here sign in centerfield, the Fan of the Game selected for that game will win $100,000.  If a home run is not hit, or if an Orioles home run that is hit does not hit the Hit It Here sign, the Fan of the Game for that game will win $100 worth of Reese’s™ scratch-off tickets and entry into the Grand-Prize drawing.  At the end of the promotion, a Grand-Prize winner will be selected to win a trip for two to Orioles Spring Training in Sarasota, FL.
