$3.8 Million Multi-Match Winning Ticket Claimed

Third Largest Jackpot in Game’s History

Multi-MatchA Severna Park couple waited almost a month to claim their December 18th winning Multi-Match jackpot ticket. That ticket was worth $3.8 million, with a cash option of $2.5 million.  The ecstatic pair chose the cash option, taking home more than $1.6 million after taxes.

The retired couple purchase Multi-Match tickets for every drawing.  Winning small amounts periodically, this was by far their largest win yet.  With the winnings, they plan to remodel their kitchen, take a vacation and share with their grown children.

The winning ticket was purchased at Fishpaws Liquors & Deli, located at 954 Ritchie Hwy, in Arnold.

This is the second time in less than a year that a Severna Park resident won a Multi-Match jackpot. The first Multi-Match win of 2010 came in March when John Obradovic from Severna Park won $4.45 million.  That win was the second-largest in Multi-Match history. Back in September 2009, two Baltimore County co-workers claimed a $4.8 million Multi-Match jackpot, the largest since the game’s inception.

There are multiple ways to win with Multi-Match. Players may win by matching 3, 4 or 5 numbers on any one line, or by matching 5 to 18 numbers on all three lines combined. To win the jackpot, players must match all six numbers on one line.  The Multi-Match jackpot starts at $500,000 and rises every time the large prize isn’t won. Multi-Match drawings can be seen on WBAL-TV Channel 11 on Mondays and Thursdays at 11:22 pm.

Practical Joke Turns into $30,000 Prize

Mason Goodhand - X-treme WinningsThe old saying, “He who laughs last, laughs the loudest” proved to be true for 29-year-old Mason Goodhand from Los Angeles who came to Lottery Headquarters, accompanied by his Dad, to claim his $30,000 prize.

It all began as a practical joke. For the past few years Mason’s Mom has given him Maryland Lottery scratch-offs as gifts – many of which have been winners.  So, when Mason was in town recently, the family thought that it would be fun to play a trick him.  The plan was to give him “practical-joke” lottery tickets, in addition to three official Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. The first ticket he scratched was a $5,000 winning “joke” ticket.  Mason yelled and cheered in excitement, until he flipped the ticket over and noticed that he had to cash the ticket in “make believe land.”

After his family finished laughing and teasing him, Mason went into the living room and decided to check out his other tickets. First, he confirmed that they were real and then he scratched the X-treme Winnings ticket revealing that he was indeed a $30,000 winner. He ran to show his family the winning scratch-off and they all checked it over ten times to make sure that he wasn’t trying to fool them.

Single and living in Los Angeles, California, Mason makes and sells furniture at Urban Hardwoods.  He plans to spend some of his winnings on a much-wanted surfboard and save the rest for a rainy day. The winning ticket was purchased at Safeway, located at 1451 Ritchie Hwy. in Arnold.
