$50,000 Winner Sends Picture Message to Wife of Winning Scratch-Off

Upper Marlboro man claims Cash Blowout top prize

An Upper Marlboro man entered Lottery Headquarters today with a winning $50,000 Cash Blowout scratch-off and a big smile on his face.  The Logistics Engineer, who buys scratch-offs regularly, said he “could hardly believe his eyes” when he matched one of his ‘winning numbers’ to the $50,000 prize listed below it.  “My wife was on her way back from out of town when I called to tell her about the win,” he said. “She didn’t believe me so I sent her a picture message from my phone of the ticket, and she called me back two minutes later saying ‘Oh my gosh, you did win!’”

The lucky man was on his usual grocery run, when he walked past a Lottery terminal at Giant when the Cash Blowout scratch-off caught his eye. “I scratched the ticket on the way back to my car, figuring if I won a few dollars I could just go back in and cash the ticket. I was never expecting it to be a $50,000 winner!”

The winnings could not have come at a more perfect time for the father-of-two.  His wife recently left her job to pursue her dreams of owning her own business.  “This money will mainly be used for equipment for my wife’s business,” he said.  The family has also planned a trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida for next week. “Now I’ll have more money than I planned for the trip!” The winning ticket was purchased at Giant, located at 5700 Southeast Crain Highway in Upper Marlboro.

Congrats to you and your family. I was listening to people talk at the store Friday, 6/10/ how they are winning the lottery numbers in Maryland, I guess it just a blessings that you happen to be next in line for. I guess I like giving my money to DC where I never win, I very seldom get to Maryland to play or scratch off. Again congrats to you and your family.

Random, yeah right. That’s what they want you to believe.

wanda: Winning numbers have always been – and will continue to be – purely the luck of the draw and a matter of random chance. Numbers drawn for each of the Lottery’s daily drawing games are arbitrary. Every time a ball is drawn, it is an independent and unique event, completely unaffected by what ball was drawn seconds, hours, days, or weeks earlier. In addition, each ball drawn has the same exact chance of being drawn as any other ball in the machine, at any point in time.

in regards to scratch-offs, winning tickets are distributed randomly throughout an entire game. If the average chance of winning a prize is say 1:5, this does not mean there is an automatic winner within every five consecutive tickets. There is no pattern as to where winning tickets will occur and we have no way of knowing where winners will be.

Good luck with your future play.

I never see any winner in the Randallstown
area. I am happy for the winner but don’t leave us out of the loop.

shirley: The geographic locations of our winners are random. There is no way to predict where the winners will be. However, research tells us that more winners come from areas of the State in which more people are playing. Please take a look at our winners stories. There you’ll see that we have winners from all over the State.

In fact we recently had a few big winners in Randallstown. Michael McCullough won $200,000 in the Logo Hunt and $30,000 Winning Scratch-off Discovered in Church Collection Plate.

Its been long long long long overdue for someone in Upper Marlboro to hit a large sum of money. I just sent a comment about two weeks ago on this website about Upper Marlboro not winning a large sum of money in years. I have shoe boxes of scratch off tickets I’ve purchased in Upper Marlboro and I have never won anything except $100 and $50. As of last week, I had to give up playing the scratch offs because of not hearing anyone winning anything except for may be $500 at the most. I even started to drive to other areas like Baltimore and Ann Arundel to play scratch off tickets. Just the thought of someone winning in Upper Marlboro makes me feel like a winner too!!! I hope this will not be the last $50,000 winner for Upper Marlboro in years.
